The majority of hospice patients are covered under the Medicare benefit. Included in the hospice benefit are:
Physician services
Nursing care
Home health aide services
Social worker
Chaplain
Medical equipment related to the terminal diagnosis
Medication related to the terminal diagnosis
Dietary counseling
In-patient and respite care
24 hour support
Medicaid covers the hospice benefit in most states and most private insurance plans provide hospice coverage.
